Every hour, like clockwork Officer Ausmus #7972 of the Cypress, California Police Department harasses OC Copwatch headquarters. His supervisors are not aware that he is at our location. The police dispatcher is not aware that he is at our location. He obviously has no official business at our location. During the last week in July, 2007 Officer Ausmus showed up at our doorstep, in response to a complaint we filed against Officer Rodriguez #7971 (Gee, do you think they attended the academy together? #7971 and #7972) and verbally threatened us. He threatened/promised to be at OC Copwatch headquarters every day to make our lives miserable. What's wrong with this picture? 1. Police officers/departments should treat feedback from citizens as a clue that there are ways to improve their policing. Instead, Cypress PD threatens and harasses people who file legitimate complaints? 2. Cypress Police watch commanders hang the phone up on OC Copwatch when we call them, so why are they bothering us every hour by shining the lights in our office windows? How can a citizen feel safe with an officer like Ausmus around, taking all the facts into consideration? Ausmus threatened us and we informed (in writing) his "internal affairs" department. Internal affairs, Sergeant Matthew Timney claimed, without ever speaking to Ausmus that "Our officers don't do things like that!" Ausmus carries a gun. Ausmus threatened us. Ausmus is obviously not at our location for any legitimate reason. In fact his dispatcher, and watch commander is unaware that he is here.
